Product Description
18 x 92mm Frake Rainscreen Cladding
Fraké is a type of hardwood known for its thermal modification process. The process involves only heat and steam, with no additional chemicals, which significantly improves the performance of the non-durable Limba timber. This results in a very durable wood, meeting Durability Class 1 with a life span of over 25 years according to NEN-EN 350-2. The thermal modification process also gives the wood a beautiful, warm, chocolate-brown colour, making it look luxurious and appealing.
Fraké is an excellent choice for exterior cladding applications because of its superior performance attributes, good looks, and competitive pricing. Rainscreen cladding is installed horizontally with open joints, allowing for good air circulation and dimensional movement. To prevent water retention, the Rainscreen is chamfered on both sides, creating an overlap between the boards and allowing water to drain. The open joint provides strong shadow lines between the boards.
Known as ‘rainscreen’ cladding, this profile is the shape of a parallelogram with its two sides at opposing angles. It is installed with a narrow gap between adjacent boards to allow a small amount of light and air to filter through.
The shape is designed to maximise water to run-off away from the building and is ideal for exterior walls with thermal insulation. If used as an open slatted fence, rainscreen cladding systems also offer more protection against the wind than a solid fence as it is dispersed rather than forced up and over.
