Product Description

Yellow Cedar Premium Tapersawn Shakes

Yellow Cedar, also known as Alaskan Yellow Cedar or Western Cypress, offers similar performance characteristics to Western Red Cedar. The shakes made of Yellow Cedar are a uniform pale-yellow colour when new but will weather to a light silver-grey patina.

The wood has a fine texture and straight grain, and it is heavier and denser than Western Red Cedar, which makes it stronger and more wear-resistant. Additionally, Yellow Cedar is naturally durable and insect-resistant, and like Western Red Cedar, it is exceptionally stable. It can be finished with a stain or left natural.

Yellow Cedar shingles and shakes provide high insulation, keeping buildings warm in winter and cool in summer. Cedar shingles and shakes are an eco-friendly roofing material with a low carbon footprint, and they are the only renewable roofing material. Shingles typically have thinner butts than shakes, which makes them lie flatter for a more tailored appearance.

Cedar shakes, on the other hand, create bolder shadow lines for a more rugged look. Shingles have a reduced exposure, which results in a 3-ply roof system. Shakes, on the other hand, have a larger exposure and are a 2-ply roof system. Tapersawn shakes are sawn on both sides for a semi-textured look with a defined shadow line. Hand-split & Resawn shakes are also available, which feature a rough split exposed face with a sawn back for a unique rustic appearance.

'Premium' is the highest grade shake available, made from the very best defect-free, old-growth, vertical grain cedar. Premium Grade Tapersawn Shakes are 18/457mm in length with a butt thickness of 5/8"/16mm.

Delivery & Returns

For national deliveries, the service is kerbside only, meaning the driver will deliver the timber to the curb/edge of your property, but not carry it inside, up steps, or into a building.

So you’ll need to plan for moving it from the delivery point yourself (or with help) once it’s been dropped off.

No automatic returns. Goods ordered in error or no longer needed can’t be returned for credit unless Beesley & Fildes agrees.
Possible returns (with approval):
Must be made within 28 days of purchase.
Items must be from regular stock lines (not custom or manufacturer-ordered).
Goods must be unused and in original packaging.

A minimum 25% restocking charge applies.
Special orders (items sourced directly from a manufacturer) cannot be returned without prior written agreement.
Delivery charges are non-refundable once the order has been dispatched, because a third-party courier handles deliveries.

DELIVERY DATES. All deliveries, Local or Nationwide, are normally 3-4* working days. Confirmation of delivery dates (and supplying branch) is given by email following the process of ordering through the payment gateway. Saturday delivery, local or by nationwide courier, may carry a surcharge.

Please email customer services for more information. *Add two Extra days for Bank Holidays. Also, some products are not carried at all branches.

If delivery time is important, please call Web sales prior to placing an order.
