Exterior Timber Cladding
Guarantee a beautiful, long-lasting home renovation with exterior timber cladding at B&F Specialist Timber.
Our durable timber planks are designed to sit against the exterior walls of your home, creating a modern and sleek appearance. These sit atop the surface of the exterior walls, protecting the material underneath.
Cedar cladding enhances resistance to pests and rot and provides a beautiful red tone. If you’re looking for something durable and cost-effective, our Larch cladding, which comes in various lengths and finishes, from European larch to kiln-dried, is the answer.
Thermowood boards are heat-treated, providing extra durability against harsh weather and excellent moisture resistance. You can also choose from various types of cladding, ranging from tongue and groove cladding for a seamless finish to rainscreen cladding. This ventilated system increases air circulation and moisture drainage.
Improve the energy efficiency of your home today and add character to any building with exterior timber cladding.
All our exterior wood cladding is sustainably sourced from our suppliers, most of which is either FSC or PEFC certified, and has been carefully selected to ensure that it meets the highest standards of quality at the most competitive prices.
Our wood cladding profiles include trim boards/fascia boards, channel, tongue and groove, rainscreen, bevel, shiplap, weatherboard and board on board.
A range of enhanced services is available, including fire treatment, factory coating and colour matching, which can speed up your installation process and reduce project costs.

NEOLIFE® Clad 4 / 14 Composite Cladding
NEOLIFE® composite cladding provides the perfect blend of eco-friendliness, practicality, durability, and good looks. Containing over 80% wood fibre, NEOLIFE® is lightweight and easy to install, UV stable, and virtually maintenance-free.
Stability
NEOLIFE products are extremely stable under heat, only expanding 1.2mm per linear metre in temperatures over 50°C and 2mm/m in temperatures over 80°C. In fact, this cladding is as stable as aluminium under heat.
Properties
Having undergone a thermal treatment, Vesta X-Resist is very water and insect resistant, and the mineral pigments offer a strong resistance to UV making the colours stable. It’s free from splinters, needs very little maintenance and will stay in great shape for years.
Channel Cladding
Channel cladding creates a sleek, bold shadow line that creates a striking look. The profile of each board has a tongue and groove style fitment, partially overlaps the adjacent board to provide excellent weather protection and allowing for dimensional movement.
Siberian Larch features our standard Channel profile which offers a 30 degree angled channel, whilst our square-edged Microline Channel profile is available in Western Red Cedar and Thermowood ranges.
Channel profiles suit both contemporary and traditional applications.
NEOLIFE® Composite Cladding
What is composite cladding?
The composite material used to make NEOLIFE cladding is made from wood fibres from sustainably managed European forests. All the product’s wood fibres come exclusively from sawmill offcuts, with no toxic additives, solvents, adhesives, or phthalates. Plus, it doesn’t generate toxic emissions.
Why choose NEOLIFE composite?
NEOLIFE® wood composite cladding provides the perfect blend of eco-friendliness, practicality and durability, and is virtually maintenance-free.
Boards / Fascia / Trim
Trim boards are used as soffits, fascia and as a finish and/or edging to cladding projects. Trim boards have more recently been used for horizontal slatted screens and fencing for a contemporary look.
Boards can also be used for open jointed cladding, fascia, barge boards, door and window trim, corner trim, fences, horizontal slatted screens – almost anything imaginable.
Combine the different board widths to create board and batten (board-on-board) style cladding to add a sense of depth and texture to any façade.
Board on Board Cladding
Board-on-board cladding is a vertical design created using wide trim boards spaced apart with narrower trim boards or battens covering the joins. There are no set board or batten widths - various combinations are used to create different looks suitable for large- or small-scale applications.

Exterior Timber Cladding FAQs
Exterior timber cladding is wooden boards or panels that are designed to be used on the outside of a structure, such as the outside of a house or shed.
When installed, they add an extra layer of protection, insulation, and visual appeal, acting as an ‘outer skin’. The timber works beautifully with period homes or modern farmhouses, adding warmth and improving kerb appeal, making it ideal for those looking for an affordable upgrade.
These boards are fixed to battens with a ventilation cavity behind, allowing the building to breathe while keeping out rain and wind to prevent moisture damage. It also shields the outer walls of your home from UV exposure while adding a natural, rustic look.
Exterior timber cladding is incredibly versatile; it can be used for a range of jobs, including:
- Home timber facades
- Garages, extensions, or loft conversions
- As an accent material on render or brickwork
- Offices and classrooms
- Shops and restaurant exteriors
- Summerhouses, gazebos, and pergolas
- Cladding for farms and barns
Our timber cladding is designed to last around 25-40 years, depending on the type of timber, any additional treatments or coatings, and the quality of installation and maintenance.
At B & F Specialist Timber, we supply cladding boards that are selected specifically for their durability, weather resistance, and long-term performance. Here’s a quick look at the typical lifespan for our timber cladding:
- Western red cedar: 20–30+ years (untreated), as it contains natural oils that help it resist moisture, decay, and insect damage.
- Frake: 25-40 years, as it's been thermally modified to achieve Durability Class 1, making it resistant to fungi, rot, insects, and warping.
- Thermoodwood pine: 25+ years, as it offers excellent dimensional stability and improved decay resistance.
- European larch: 15-25 years, as it contains a high resin content that helps resist moisture and fungal attack.
